Recovery for Having Fun while Supporting Your Recovery During the Holidays

2021 recorded an all-time spike in drug overdose deaths. The holiday season is dangerous for those with drug or alcohol problems, including people in recovery. Substance (drugs, alcohol) use usually accompany social and family events.

Celebration is often connected with heavy drinking and drug use, especially for those prone to over doing it. Memories of “Christmas Past” contribute to heavier than usual drinking and drugging, even among moderate and intermittent users.

The ubiquitous pandemic with our accompanying social, political and economic disruptions are stressful. People are looking for relief and a source of renewed pleasure. Chances increase exponentially for consequences from relapse and reckless behavior even from those who practice a sober lifestyle.

Community events and resources which can divert away from alcohol and drug use are available for everyone.
